Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the car and start the engine and even locate the vehicle.

This will open the cover that conceals the manual key blade. You'll need a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip the cover counterclockwise, ensuring that the arrow is aligned with "open."
The Engine is Ready to Start

However, just like any battery-powered electronic device, a key fob can be depleted of its charge or cease working after a certain period of time. If you notice that your key fob is less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace the battery.
You can enable this feature with the key fob in case your car has a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The car will then heat or cool to the same temperature it was at when it was parked, and will operate for up to 15 minutes.
With a fingernail, remove the cover on the back of the key fob. Under the cover, on a diagonal near the body's edge you'll find the button. Slide it down and to the right. The cover will then come open and slide off to reveal the manual key blade within! If you are unable to locate the button, check the now-revealed manual key access for a hidden lever or slot.
Closing the Windows
One of the features that is hidden that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to roll down all of the windows at once when you use the fobs. This is helpful when you are trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or simply need fresh air while driving.

The Alarm is turned off
Modern key fobs provide an array of benefits over a traditional mechanical car key. However, they don't work flawlessly forever, and their batteries eventually go out of service. You can try to program your key fob at your home if you are in a rush or don't have time to go to the store.
Lay out your keys as well as batteries and additional keys on a clean surface. Set the key fob with the Volvo logo facing up and then find a small black button to the left side of the fob and slide it downwards and to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade that is mechanical beneath.
Press the button to unlock the key fob twice quickly, and you'll be able to open all of the doors and the tailgate. The lock button also shuts the windows and sunroof (if equipped) by pressing it for two seconds. Connect the battery, and the alarm should cease. If not, the owner's instructions should contain a reset process.
